Ngola Executioner’s Sword

Code: RACO220-20
Price: $999.00
Quantity in Basket: none

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
As the name implies, these were used in the ceremonial execution of (primarily slaves) individuals in the Congo. This very large piece measures 27” overall and has the thin iron brass wrapping just above the wooden handle. The cutting edge is the top, rounded part of the blade and the individual’s neck was placed in a tree trunk shaped the same way. This is a very well known style to collectors of African edged weapons and this one is an exceptionally well made example in very good condition. It is flawless. The age of this piece is estimated at well over 100 years as evidenced by the black, sooty coating that gives this a nice patina.

Azande Battle Sword

Code: RACO220-23
Price: $849.00
Quantity in Basket: none

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
As the name implies, these were used in battle by the fierce Azande tribe of the Congo. This large piece measures 29” overall and is much larger than most swords of this type. It has a nice rawhide wrapping on the base of the blade near the handle to prevent the owner from injuring his hand on the cutting edge. Some of the wire wrapping remains just above the wooden handle. The cutting edge is the forward leaning portion of the blade. Any decorative detail on the blade is obscured by decades of sooty build-up. This is a very well known style to collectors of African edged weapons and this one is an exceptionally well made example in good condition that we estimate dates back at least 100 years.

Exotic Wood Sword

Code: RACO220-26
Price: $399.00
Quantity in Basket: none

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
DSC 594 and 595- -This interesting piece measures 30” overall and has a sharpened edge all the way around. The very dense wood gives this piece a significant heft and would inflict a fearsome wound. The beautifully shaped handle is decorated with black and white plumage. One side is uniform in color and that was probably the one facing the room and the other is “picture framed”….dark around the edges and lighter in the middle. This is a very unique piece that we have not been able to reference in any of our tribal weapons books.
